Luego de que las autoridades decretaran calamidad pública por los bajos niveles del río Escalerete que impiden la óptima prestación del servicio de agua potable en el puerto, la empresa Hidropacífico trasladó hasta la bocatoma a los líderes comunales para que corroboraran de manera directa la problemática.
La idea fue que los líderes de los barrios de la Comuna 12, la más afectada por la sequía, comprobaran de primera mano que la situación es grave y que la falta de agua potable en sus sectores se debe a la inclemencia del clima.
El coordinador de la red de junta de acción comunal, Ricardo Mosquera, aseguró que «nos hemos quedado sorprendidos porque no creíamos que el río estaba así y que por eso no llegaba el agua, el caudal está bajo».
«Uno pensaba que el agua la estaban vendiendo en los buques y por eso no llegaba, pero ahora que nos traen acá ya entendemos que está pasando» dijo Claudia García, habitante del barrio Nueva Frontera, uno de los sectores más afectados por la falta de agua.
Las autoridades a través de reuniones periódicas continúan adoptando estrategias para minimizar la problemática se extenderá durante el fenómeno del niño.
El 60% de Buenaventura tiene el servicio de agua de manera óptima, mientras un 30% continúa con afectaciones y un 10% recibe el vital líquido con bajas presiones.
